Sample Protocol Data Entry Form

This form is used to manage sample protocols. It automatically assigns IDs (BxSP-mmddyy-nn) and Version Numbers and provides Updating, Copying and Archiving functionality. All versions are saved in the database and each version can have a different author. Titles and Comments can be added at anytime.

Button	Description of Function
Add Protocol	This will add the new protocol to the database.
Update Protocol	Updating will only be allowed if the protocol has not been used in an experiment. Every time a protocol is updated the version number will automatically be incremented unless the changes are only to the title or to comments. A Title change will be applied to all versions with the same ID.
Archive Protocol	This will mark the protocol archived and it will not be available for use in future experiments
New Protocol Version	This is used to create a new version when the protocol has been assigned to an experiment. It will retain the same ID and increment the version number and save all other data field changes.
Copy Protocol	This will create a new ID and reset the version to 1.00 and all other data fields will be retained.
